OK, I've waited long enough trying to think of something profound to say.

This'll have to do...

The holiday season is as good as upon us, and I'm nowhere near ready. According to the stores, it's been upon us since September.

I am not prepared for the shopping, the visits to family (ESPECIALLY the visits to family), the "gatherings" formerly known as parties, the events, the fundraisers etc., etc. and so on.

If that weren't enough, there's this odd state of limbo between the Red Sox winning the World Series and the anticipated return of the Patriots to the Super Bowl...but no pressure, guys!

Working at home makes it all different too. You're not living in two separate worlds - work and home - because you work AT home. In some ways that's good: no desperately struggling with gift ideas for co-workers you'd rather never see again or how much to spend on the boss for maximum kiss-up value without going broke.

On the other hand, it gets even harder to assert your business identity when people are thinking, "Oh...Dan's at home. Maybe he can... (insert every annoying and time consuming errand you ever ran at this time of year and multiply the nuisance factor by 100)"

Now if they pulled this stuff during the summer, I'd be all for it.

Maybe if I just stay up an extra two hours each night...
